Reflower Bundle

This bundle consists of Reflower Controller, the Artic oven, a thermocouple, a serial cable and controller PC software.

Reflower controller is a device that controls a customized toaster oven to perform proto-type and small batch surface mount solder reflow operations. A standard convection oven is customized into a real performer. A layer of fiberglass insulation is added around the oven chamber, along with fiberglass seal on the door to keep the heat in. A separate power cord is added for the convection fan so it runs all the time. Finally the Reflower’s thermocouple wire is passed through the rear of the oven to make it more convenient to position on the PCB. All these modifications transform an ordinary counter top convection oven into a low cost reflow oven to accompany the Reflower Controller. This oven can easily generate temperature high enough to reflow with no-lead paste.

The reflow temperature profile is customized through its RS232 interface to fit the user’s requirements. The Reflower Controller can perform 3 types of cycles. Preheat Cycle, Reflow Cycle (runs the oven through pre-defined temperature profile) and Bake Cycle (used to drive moisture from sensitive components). The Reflower Controller will set various parameters like: bake temperature, bake time, cooling time, drying temperature, drying scope, hysterisis, preheat temperature, reflow temperature, reflow scope, reflow time. The actual and target temperature can be sent to the serial port for data logging.
